Red Phantom Masquerade Gown 2005

Pattern: Simplicity 4479

Materials: Red Costume Satin, 2 1/2″ Black Lace

This is supposed to be a pattern similar to the Pink dress that Christine Daae wears in the Masquerade scene in the movie.

I made this pattern for a Masquerade party on New Years Eve 2005.

There are four layers of material in the bodice, fabric, padding (from flannel), inside lining (w/ boning), and lining. The neck binding is actually satin ribbon. The back laces through satin ribbon loops.

The skirt is long enough to fit over the full petticoat and still reach the floor even on a tall model. It had knife pleats on the front and gathering on the back. The skirt fastens with hook and eye. The skirt is hand attached to the lining of the bodice. The train attaches with two snaps at the natural waist on the bodice and the swoops are held up by plastic rings and ribbon, cleverly hidden beneath the train.
