Silky Print Dress

Front Detail

Silky Print Dress

Summery silky print dress with matching green accents. To be honest, I did not pick the materials on this dress, and was skeptical about whether it would turn out nicely. Mercifully, the person choosing the materials was able to picture more clearly in her head what it would look like finished and didn’t let my pessimism discourage her. As you can see, the dress is beautiful, much to my relief.

Paisley Sun Dress

Pattern: Hand drafted, based on sun dress owned by Client.
Time: 2-3 Days
Materials: Bodice off-white cotton embroidered in brown, red, and white; Skirt brown linen. (About 2/3 yard for the bodice and 2 yards for the skirt).

Dress was patterned after a jersey knit sun dress with the same key features, boat neck, sleeveless, empire waist, and “A” line skirt. Some notable differences: materials, darts, and length.

Bodice was lined in matching plain cotton. Lining is not attached at the waist, only around the neck and arms. Pull on dress with no zipper or other fastenings.

All pieces were cut on the fold.

Dress is lightweight and flows beautifully. It fits smoothly through bust and high waist then flairs over natural waist and hip.
